RUSSELL'S - THE PLACE TO EAT

roprietor/chef Glen Russell wasted very little time in establishing a reputation for excellent food and service in the restaurant, aptly named after him. In 2006 he was awarded 2 prestigious AA Rosettes, confirming the high standard of the food served here.

With his extensive catering experience he has brought with him a culinary flair for recipes using the very best local produce offered in varying and tempting menus.

Russell's extends over both sides of the ground floor of the Smiddy House and can cater for up to 40 diners. Guests dine by candlelight and coal-effect gas fires help create a cosy, intimate atmosphere.

The menu changes weekly and offers freshly prepared cuisine using the finest of Scottish produce. Dishes include rack of lamb, medallions of venison as well as a selection of fresh fish and vegetarian options.

The introduction of "themed evenings" has attracted a regular local clientele as well as providing something "that little bit different" for the holidaymaker.

Reservations. As Glen’s reputation spreads further afield, it is wise to reserve a table in advance, especially during the summer months when many passing tourists stop for refreshment at The Smiddy House, as well as the resident guests and locals.
